Why applicants progress at different times
The official application FAQ says timing varies by applicant and competition. Scheduling fitness, interview and medical appointments can affect the process, as can returns from external agencies. An online application is the start of a sequence rather than a guaranteed intake date.
Cadetship terms also describe several dependent stages. Passing an early assessment does not mean that all later conditions have been met. Keep separate records for application closing, online assessment, physical assessment and interview.
Make a simple correspondence log
Record the date, message subject, action required, deadline and official contact for each communication. Mark whether you have completed the action and retain the confirmation where available. This helps distinguish waiting for a decision from an unfinished task.
Check your contact details and email folders if a message seems missing. If you need to enquire, give the competition name and the relevant stage through the official channel. Do not post application identifiers or private correspondence in a public forum.
Use waiting time purposefully
Continue preparation that is useful regardless of the exact invitation date. Review truthful interview examples, organise documents and work on relevant reasoning methods if your route requires aptitude. Use official fitness guidance and appropriate instruction rather than attempting a last-minute intensive programme.
Avoid interpreting silence through rumours. Candidate reports can describe genuine experiences, but one delay is not a current service standard and one quick invitation is not a promise for everyone.
When the next message arrives
Read the whole instruction, including attachments and attendance requirements. Save dates separately and check travel, equipment and documents. If a conflict prevents attendance or an instruction appears unclear, use the contact named in the message promptly.
PSP cannot see your official application status. A completed practice task does not change the recruiting authority’s record, and our account dashboard is separate from the official application system.
Questions about this stage
Does a longer wait mean I failed?
Not by itself. Timing varies and only official correspondence can tell you your status.
Can PSP check my application status?
No. Use the official recruitment contact and your own application correspondence.
