Translate each fact into the same direction
A question can express the same relation in different ways: A is earlier than B, or B is later than A. Put both into a consistent direction before combining them. That reduces the chance of reversing one link halfway through the problem.
Do not add facts because they sound plausible. A person described as taller is not necessarily faster, older or first in a queue. Keep the comparison dimension fixed, and check whether the question asks for the first, last, greatest or least item.
An original worked example
Tara finishes before Niamh. Niamh finishes before Faye. Combining the two facts gives Tara before Niamh before Faye. Asked who finishes last among these three, the supported answer is Faye. Asked who finishes before Niamh, the supported answer is Tara.
Choosing Tara as last reverses the chain. Choosing Niamh as last stops after the first relationship and ignores the second. A complete explanation should reconstruct both links and point to the exact wording of the question. It should not merely say that Faye is correct.
Notice when the evidence is insufficient
Suppose instead you know that Tara finishes before Niamh and Tara finishes before Faye. That places Tara before both, but does not tell you whether Niamh or Faye finishes last. A well-written question must ask something those facts determine or explicitly provide a cannot-determine option.
PSP also includes explicitly labelled comparison exercises with four, five or six entities. These extend the three-entity familiarisation style for additional practice. They are PSP training extensions, not claims about the live Defence Forces battery. Apply the instructions of the particular exercise.
Practise the reasoning you will need again
Review each wrong choice by asking whether it reverses a relation, ignores a link or introduces an unsupported assumption. Then solve a genuinely new relationship structure. Renaming people in an identical chain can help deliberate review, but it should not be counted as a substantially new reasoning problem.
The public familiarisation tool demonstrates staged presentation. If rules disappear before the answer screen in your practice, retain the chain rather than just a name. PSP practice timing and scores are separate from official scoring and progression decisions.
Questions about this stage
Can I use everyday knowledge to fill a gap?
No. Select the answer supported by the stated relationships and the item instructions.
Are harder logic extensions official examples?
No. PSP may offer clearly labelled extensions for practice. The official invitation and familiarisation material govern the real assessment.
