Recruit and cadet are different applications
A Naval General Service recruit and a Naval cadet do not follow an identical route. The current recruit information should govern a recruit application. The 2026 Naval cadetship booklet describes an officer selection process with online and supervised psychometrics, fitness, group assessment, a personality questionnaire and interview.
Operations, Marine Engineering and Electrical Engineering have separate educational requirements. Check the relevant branch in the official terms. Neither a generic degree nor familiarity with Army entry rules establishes your eligibility for a Naval branch.
Prepare for the service, not just the questions
Build a realistic understanding of the branch you chose, training and life at sea. For interview, connect that knowledge to your own experience of teamwork, responsibility and coping with demands. Explain why maritime service interests you rather than substituting a generic answer about a uniformed career.
Original reasoning practice can support the skill areas named in your assessment materials. The five public familiarisation formats are a useful reference, but your invitation controls the actual battery and timing. Shared PSP practice is not a claim that every Army and Naval assessment is identical.
Keep an accurate application record
Retain your branch choice, official terms, submitted information and invitation details together. Organise identification and qualification evidence in the form requested. Medical and vetting conditions remain for the Defence Forces to assess.
The 2026 cadet competition is closed and the next date was not confirmed in the sources checked. Recruitment status for General Service is listed separately. Use the official opportunities page for the current position.
