How it works
What you actually practise, and why it matches publicjobs
The official familiarisation test shows you a handful of questions and then leaves you guessing. This shows you the real thing, repeatedly, in the format and timing of the actual assessment, with the answers worked through so every attempt teaches you something.
The ranked-answer SJT
This is the part nobody else does properly, and the reason it exists. The real publicjobs SJT asks you to rank responses from most to least effective. The free sample on publicjobs.ie won't let you, so candidates practise a multiple-choice version and meet a different exam on the day. Here you rank the options the way the real test does, scored against a calibrated key. After each one you see the ideal ranking, why it's ordered that way, and which 2024-framework capability it tests.
Numerical, in the EO budget-style format
Read a data table, work a percentage or a ratio, answer against the clock. Built to the real EO timing and the question types that actually come up, including the budget-style problems that catch people out. Every question has a worked solution, so when you get one wrong you learn the method, not just that you missed it.
Verbal reasoning, True / False / Cannot Say
Read the passage, judge each statement the way the test frames it. The trick is the difference between False and Cannot Say, and that's exactly what the worked solutions drill into you. Irish public-sector passages, real timing, no UK filler.
A dashboard that points you at your weak spots
Practising everything equally is a waste of your last week. Your dashboard tracks scores across every attempt and flags the capabilities you score lowest on, then resurfaces them so your practice goes where it'll move your result.
When the interview comes: a mock that tells you what scores
The 2024 framework changed what is being marked, so old competency-interview prep no longer maps cleanly. The mock interview add-on asks framework-mapped questions, captures your STAR-structured answer, and gives feedback on where it would score. It is €49 and you can run it as many times as you need, a fraction of the €195 to €375 a coach charges.
Practice mode vs exam mode
Practice mode is untimed, with worked solutions shown as you go. Use it to learn the method.
Exam mode runs the real clock and holds the solutions to the end, so you rehearse the actual pressure.
Most people start in practice mode to learn the shape of each question type, then switch to exam mode in the final week to rehearse under the timer.
Built for your grade
Practice is calibrated by grade, so you're not drilling questions pitched at the wrong level. CO, EO and HEO to start, with EO as the deepest bank because the EO 2026 competition is live now.
